Aircore drilling approximately one kilometre to the north-east of the Salt Creek gold deposit has identified an area of strong bedrock gold anomalism – the Mohegan prospect. This area was originally targeted because of its geological similarities to Salt Creek with respect to rock type and interpreted structural disruption.
Three distinct and parallel gold-in-aircore drilling anomalies have been identified with strike extents ranging between 400 and 600 metres and bedrock gold anomalism including 2 metres at 615 ppb gold from 16 metres to bottom of hole in drill hole SCAC295, 8 metres at 616 ppb gold from 40 metres in drill hole SCAC274 and 3 metres at 275 ppb gold from 32 metres to bottom of hole in drill hole SCAC288. The Mohegan prospect displays similarities to the Salt Creek gold deposit at an early stage of exploration in that wide-spaced reconnaissance aircore drilling at both areas has demonstrated bottom of hole bedrock gold anomalism.
