What We Do
At Komatsu, we also attend to the needs of the industrial minerals market. Our offers for this sector feature heavy-duty hardware such as continuous miners, haulage systems, and a broad line of feeder breakers.
Among our continuous miners, we have the 12HM models; these include the 12HM46, which is the biggest and most powerful continuous miner produced. It is a drum-type miner which uses our suite of continuous miner components. These have been battle-tested and proven to work. However, its purpose is specific to industrial uses, which include gypsum, salt, potash, and gypsum.
Generally, our continuous miners utilise our multimotor design. This involves linking the equipment to outboard components such as motors, controllers, gear cases and a host of other essential parts, which simplify the troubleshooting process and make maintenance easier.
Using individual motors for various needs such as the hydraulic system, traction gathering, and the cutter optimise servicing of the equipment, impacting the frequency of downtime and the costs incurred by maintenance.
Feeder Breakers
Joy UFB-38: The UFB-38 is designed to function with seam heights greater than 1,900 mm, which translates to 75 in. It has a throughput of about 600 tonnes per hour.
Joy UFB-33: The 33 is lesser than its sister piece in terms of seam height, designed for seams with heights that are greater than 1372 mm. It however, makes up for this with a throughput of 1000 tonnes per hour.
Joy UFB-17: The 17 is made for seam heights which are between 1145 mm to 1625 mm. It had a throughput of 1091 tonnes per hour.
Joy UFB-14: The 14 has been designed to work with seam heights that are greater than 1650 mm. It equally has a throughput of about 1360 tonnes.
Batch Haulage At Komatsu
Joy Shuttle Cars: Our Joy shuttle cars have specifically been manufactured so that we can accommodate all requirements. As such, we have cars with a wide variety of load capacities. We equally have models that can function in seams that either range from low to mid seam and mid seam to high industrial mining applications.
Joy Battery Haulers: These have a load capacity that runs between 11.4 to 27.2 tonnes; there is a variety of models which can be used for low, mid, high and applications with a very high seam.

The Joy Flexible Conveyor Train is a system which one person remotely operates. The flexible conveyor is patented, and it removes the necessity of a feeder breaker within the area.
The different technologies available for use are high output but low maintenance variants. They optimise the work in the capacities that they serve while placing emphasis on ruggedness and equipment availability. The multiple-choice nature of the pieces also implies that they are ready for application in different climes as well. Our customers will find them vital in the ultimate delivery of the project over time.
