Tunnelling Equipment

Although tunnelling is a mining activity that has existed for several years, the use of conveyor systems in the removal of muck from excavation sites did not really start until the 1980s. Since then, we at Komatsu have been leading suppliers of conveyor systems to different players in the industry. The equipment is designed to present favourably against the severe conditions which are inherent in the construction of tunnels.

We also supply a diverse collection of conveyor-based equipment used in handling material. These are useful in removing underground muck from the excavation site to the surface and beyond it.

Komatsu Controllers: These controllers custom-designed depend on individual application. Available on ground are controllers for tripper and main drives.

Joy Discharges: The design of our Joy discharges are based on specific customer applications. They are available in different discharge heights.

Joy Belt Storage Units: The belt storage units are on the ground in both multiple and single lap designs. They are very capable of travelling at over one foot per second in carriages.

Joy Belt Winder: The Joy Belt Winder makes it easy to handle the conveyor belt. It simplifies the process and improves it. It also provides a consistent speed of winding.

Joy Drives: Like many of the materials in our stock, the drives are also designed to suit various customer applications. They are built to be available when needed, are highly reliable and are also used in some of the most productive sectors of material handling.

Joy Take-up: For this, we have completely electric designs, as well as options of gravity and hydraulic ones. Their role is the provision of a smooth start for the conveyor.

Joy Idler Options: These are design options which are specially oriented to meet the needs associated with the tunneling industry. We have tapered and bearing options up for acquisition.

Joy Related Structure Equipment: These are available in multiple sizes. They can be mounted on the wall, on the roof or on the floor.

HAC System: This can be used both in mining and industrial capacities. They can be utilised in handling materials such as wet or sticky ones. The length can either be reduced or increased for use in a new location.

iXRS 600 Sizer: The 600 is a piece of equipment which can be adapted for industrial applications as well as mining. The design is such that an easy reconfiguration is possible. This makes it possible to introduce the equipment into various environments. It is capable of handling bauxite, gypsum, a number of limestone, salt, clay, phosphate, petroleum coke, as well as a host of other materials with its compressive level of strength.
